The carbide is a precision tool used to cut the burr on the edge of the blade following the sharpening process. If the carbide is "damaged" it must be replaced.
The premium carbide is made of aluminum inside with a layer of aluminum nitride and titanium (Titanium TiAlN) with a rounded cutting edge for even more precise work.
The Titanium layer makes the product up to 5 times more durable than the standard version. Fits less into the blade than the more "standard" versions.
In conclusion, this product is an improved version of the "Skater's Choice Carbide".
