The name of Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu is back in the spotlight as he shares his inspiring journey in the media. After a season marked by three medals at the World Championships, Antoine took a break to better prepare for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games. Two recent articles from the Journal de Montréal and TVA Sports highlight his commitment to his sport and his desire to come back stronger than ever.
A return to the roots in short track
Last weekend, Antoine was the spokesperson for the Junior Short Track World Cup, a role that was close to his heart. Having started his short track career in Sherbrooke, he has always maintained a strong connection with the discipline.
At Nagano Skate, we have known Antoine since his beginnings. Our co-founder, Éric Bédard, trained him when he was young, and François Drolet accompanied him at many competitions as a blade technician for the national team. His commitment to the new generation is exemplary: during our Nagano camps, he has also coached young talents like Mathieu Pelletier and Alexis Dubuc-Bilodeau.
A sabbatical year to aim for the Olympic Games
Despite his recent successes, Antoine has chosen to take a break this season to focus on his ultimate goal: a medal at the Olympic Games. Following health issues at the end of summer, he preferred to postpone his participation in the selections in order to return in full form in the fall. He is currently working with the Université Laval Institute of Cardiology and Pulmonology in Quebec to manage his asthma issues and is consulting a mental coach to optimize his psychological condition.
At Nagano Skate, we are proud to support him. Antoine embodies values that are dear to us: perseverance, passion, and the importance of mental health in sports.
We look forward to seeing Antoine back on the ice, ready to take on new challenges. His journey continues to inspire young athletes, and we are honored to be part of his adventure.
